Press Conference: Chinese Grand Prix
World Trophy
Wednesday, 21 April 2010 03:26

Welcome to the Formula SimRacing World Trophy Press Conference for the Chinese Grand Prix.

Third, for Leoncavallo Precision Motorsports; Emre Uysal. Second, Also for Leoncavallo Precision Motorsports; Ajibola Lawal. Winning for the fourth consecutive Grand Prix, for Precision Motorsports; Pedro Melim.

Q: Congratulations Pedro for the win. How did the race go?
A: Thank you, was pretty good race even though the qualifying session didn’t go as well as I wanted. Race was great, pace was fast and consistent. Was running in second in the first few laps but thanks to a mistake by Lawal I overtook him. When pitstops started, Lawal pitted before me so I had to push in the inlap because knowing him pitting before me would give him advantage on tyres.
After I pitted I came out in front of Lawal so I knew that my effort in the inlap was good, Lawal overtook me once but not for long and I took first position again. From that till end was just doing the best I could without mistakes. That was enough and I got my fourth win out of four races in the FSR WT 2010 Season.

Q: As you have won the first four races of the season, do you expect to win the championship?
A: As I said in the beginning of the season, when I join something, it’s to win it. “Expecting” is not the best word to describe it, anything can happen till the end but for sure, my focus is on winning the championship.

Q: Who do you think your main title contenders will be?
A: Title contenders, quite difficult to say as my team-mates are just behind me, I think those will be the main ones, but as I said anything can happen, after all this is FSR.

Q: Ajibola, you were very close to Pedro throughout the whole race. Are you disappointed to not win the Chinese GP?
A: I was disappointed but it is only one race and now for me my season starts here and I'm confident of winning races this year so I will just keep pushing and see what happens.

Q: Twice you have come very close to winning in 2010. How long will it be till we see you on the top step of the podium?
A: First of all the target is to win the championship which I know I have the ability to so winning isn't my number one priority now but to just keep getting strong results and hopefully gain many wins.

Q: Emre, you seemed to have a lonely Grand Prix after you passed Patel in the early stages, tell us how your race went.
A: I knew I had to overtake Patel as soon as possible when the tyres were still fresh on rubber. After that, I pushed in the first stint trying to catch the leaders but times showed I couldn't really manage that.
The second stint wasn't that enjoyable but it did the job and took the final podium spot.
Q: Being third in the drivers championship, but already 95 points off Pedro, do you think you will be able to be battling for the title come the end of the season?
A: We still have enough races I think, we all drive to be fast and win races. We will see what the rest of the season will bring.

Will anyone be able to stop Precision Motorsports’ dominance in 2010?
