2009 Season Review - Roaldo Racing
World Series Ace
Wednesday, 06 January 2010 01:26

Roaldo Racing Logo Roaldo Racing Logo Roaldo Racing came into the season as reigning champions and naturally began the year with high expectations. The Dutch team has dominated the Ace division in recent years, having won 5 out of the 6 titles since the beginning of the rFactor era. However, the team struggled to repeat this success in 2009 and was beaten to both titles by Twister-Racing.

2009 World Series Ace Standings 2009 World Series Ace Standings Twister dominated the rest in every area in 2009; they were fast at every circuit, had a stable line-up of top drivers and of course the best World Championship team. It was therefore always going to be tough challenge for the opposition. Roaldo didn’t give up without a fight, swapping places at the top of the standings with Twister several times during the season. Eventually Roaldo Racing Ace wound up 3rd behind the Twister 1-2 with Roaldo Renegade only managing 9th, after being 3rd in 2008. The team’s best results were three 2nd places at Bahrain, Spain and Belgium.

As for the drivers, Fred Gosling finished 3rd in the standings with 234 points, comfortably the most of any non-Twister driver. Timon Bolier finished a respectable 6th with 107 points and Nebojsa Tramosljika was classified 8th with 102.

Random Fact...

For the second year in a row Fred Gosling completed the most racing laps of anyone in the World Series (978).

Nick Rowland Nick Rowland Commentator's View...

Q: Roaldo lead the Ace standings after Spa yet fell well behind Twister by the end. Why would you say this was?
Nick Rowland: Roaldo had an up and down season. Fred Gosling was always there, there abouts throughout the season but I think the rate of car development and setup development wasn't as quick as Twister's. I for one wanted to see the Roaldo's battling but the Twister's found an edge no-one else had. Unfortunate for the Championship.

Q: Twister fielded an incredibly strong line-up consistently at every race, yet Roaldo sometimes only entered one car. How costly was this?
Nick Rowland: Massively. Roaldo's unfortunate inconsistancy cost them at a point where they could have really gone forwards and challenged Twister. Roaldo had a promising line up in 09 but I think in the end the Twister's demoralised the Roaldo drivers.
